To develop and grow a user centred design capability within Kiwibank that will support a programme of Customer Experience (CX) improvements, and other business projects across the bank, to ensure delivery of Kiwibank’s Target Customer Experience.

This role will exist within a small centralised Customer Experience Team, but will work to develop a network of distributed CX resources across the business. The Senior UX Practitioner will support this virtual team with a centralised method and toolkit, mentoring, coaching and training as required.

1. Develop, integrate and embed a UCD method

• Select, customise and or develop an appropriate UCD methodology and toolkit for Kiwibank to support the Customer Experience strategy. • Integrate this methodology into existing business improvement (six sigma) and project methodologies.
• Embed the methodology into Kiwibank as part of a standard business design process

2. Support bank-wide projects with appropriate UX/CX capability

• Develop a virtual team of UX practitioners across the bank that will meet the UX needs of the bank with support from the central Customer Experience team • Support a portfolio of UX projects across the bank ensuring our CX resources are efficiently deployed

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

1. Education A degree in Psychology, Anthropology, Human-Computer Interaction, Interaction Design, Human Factors, Business or related discipline is highly desirable. A Masters or PhD is ideal.

2. UX practitioner skills
Experience with a range of user centred design / UX methods used to gather qualitative and quantitative data to inform design and to evaluate designs such as: contextual inquiry, scenario development and task analysis, user testing, expert review, heuristic review, focus groups, card sorting, survey development and analysis, secondary research, competitive analysis, etc

3. Experience Experience planning, conducting, analyzing and reporting formal and informal user testing and studies. 3+ years experience desirable.

• lead the iterative design review process with project teams, acquiring consensus and approvals on designs and documentation; communicate user experiences through storyboarding, detailed wireframes, task flow diagrams, design specifications and other documentation
• conduct user research through surveys, interviews, focus groups, card-sorting, etc.
• plan and conduct usability testing, including remote testing; this includes creating test strategies and plans, test scenarios and tasks, screening participants, facilitating usability testing and providing usability recommendations
• contribute to the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of efficient & effective usability methodology/process, documentation, workflow, ROI, metrics and design standards
• act as a usability advocate and consultant to project teams providing expert guidance and thought leadership regarding principles of information architecture, user-centered design and the latest industry trends and best practices

Software & technologies

The User Experience Architect should have experience with the following:

• Morae & UserVue or equivalents for remote usability testing
• Visio or equivalent for static and interactive wireframing and prototyping
• MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Project for analysis, scheduling, and reporting
• Adobe Photoshop & screen capture software
• familiarity with Microsoft .NET framework is a plus

Requirements

• minimum Bachelor’s degree in HCI/Human Factors/Usability or related discipline preferred
• minimum 6 years of relevant human factors/usability work experience
• proven success as an UX generalist capable of leading efforts throughout the product development cycle, including user research, early prototyping, detailed design and validation
• demonstrated ability to incorporate UCD principles into the architecture and design of user interfaces
• must have a portfolio with examples of relevant interaction design work
• experience preparing and conducting user-centered research techniques including customer visits, usability studies, surveys, and feedback sessions
• experience improving the usability of enterprise software with experience designing UIs for both thin and thick client applications
• must be able to multi-task and meet deadlines in a fast-paced development environment
• strong communication and interpersonal skills
• experience in data integration, data warehousing, or metadata management is a strong asset
• an understanding of 508 accessibility design issues is a plus
